We are in to storage vegetable season. A Rich comforting side dish!
Rutabaga and Pear Bake
This could easily be made with apples.
3 cups sliced rutabaga
3 pears, cored and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 350 F. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the rutabagas and cook until barely tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain rutabagas in a colander. Combine with pears. Place half of mixture into a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and dot with 1-1/2 tablespoons of butter. Repeat with the other half of ingredients. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm or room temperature.
